Breezes

Breezes Cafe was set up in August 2009. For the last 45 years it had been Emma’s dress shop, so it was a major change in the area when this historic business changed into a busy Cafe. We also added a Delicatessen and at the end of August the Restaurant opened its doors three evenings a week. The response has been amazing and everyone has admired the design of the building which covers over 3000 square feet on two floors.

The ground floor has been opened up to create an open space, with the main seating at the front. The rear of the ground floor has been converted into a Deli, with an overflow of seating from the front Cafe. Upstairs you have more of a Lounge seating area, with comfy chairs, Chesterfield suites and low level coffee tables. There is also ample seating to the front of the property and the rear garden. In all we can seat over one hundred diners.

The Owners

Maria and Wes Lewis are local Hill Head residents, who saw an opportunity when Emma’s came up for sale. At this very negative time with the recession in full swing, it could of been a disaster, but early signs have been good, and only confirms that it was the right thing to do. Both of the owners have run their own business’s before so this side was not new to them, but they had not ever run a busy around Food. But they have bought in a great team who have been a fantastic help and support in getting this business of the ground.  


The Cafe 

The Cafe is open seven days a week. It offers a range of home cooked, locally sourced food, which is freshly prepared when ordered. The Cafe Menu will change seasonally as we like to use seasonal produce where we can. Homemade cakes are freshly prepared all day long, as one goes, another one has just cooked. Favourites such as Victoria Sponge, Pecan Pie, Carrot Cake, Key Lime Pie, Seasonal fruit flans, Hummingbird, Cup Cakes, Lemon Tart, Banana and Toffee being just a few, but our Chef will always come up with new ones as the seasons change. Our Kitesurfers Breakfast is already a talking point, this large, quality breakfast made from all local supplied food will be enough to keep you going all day. Our Coffee is supplied by Qualitasse and is a Fair Trade choice, which of course is delicious. Other drinks range from smoothies, milkshakes,  local apple juices and lots more favourites.  

The Deli

The Deli was something we included as we wanted to provide some local produce both to use in our Menu but also to sell in the Deli. We now have over thirty local suppliers providing goods such as milk, bread, scones, cheeses, beers, wines, spices, jams, chutneys, sweets, biscuits and many, many more. This has become a very popular side of this business with both local and further afield customers coming in daily to buy. It’s great to feel we can support local suppliers and also use local suppliers for our menus. In this day when the large supermarkets are overpowering smaller business’s, it’s great that people are willing to support us and make a point. 

The Restaurant

Our Restaurant is open three nights a week, Thursdays, Friday and Saturday at the moment. Its already establishing itself as a great place to eat out. We have created a small menu which changes monthly, offering a variety of quality dishes from Mussels, Risottos, fresh fish, homemade soups, speciality meat dishes and vegetarian choice, plus homemade desserts. Add to this both local and wines from around the world, locals beers, it’s a recipe for a great night out with great venue, fabulous home cooked foods, wide range of drinks, soothing music and exceptional value and service. 

The Chef

Our Chef,  Michael Tomkinson  has just stared in June so came and sample his food.
